On the 17th November 2025, we are flying our flags at half mast as we acknowledge the passing this morning of our friend and long serving unit member Pat Welch.

We send our deepest condolences to Pat's family and friends during this difficult time.

We would like to recognise Pat's significant contribution to our unit and the wider community, making it a better and safer place to be.

Pat was a Watch Officer in our radio room, as well as an accomplished photographer and author.

In his time as a volunteer, he covered many Marine Rescue Events, documenting a visual archive of our unit for future generations. 

Pat was also the producer of an annual (now defunct) publication the "Marine Guide" which were distributed in our local area each year.

Pat was also an author of the book "History in the Making" (2009), which documented the early days of Culburra Beach, Orient Point and Crookhaven Heads.

Pat will be missed.
